There’s no excuse for letting anger to control you. Actually, the scripture says that anger is for fools. Let me explain why I say so.
Before you start arguing a list of things of why you think that anger is important for our life but let me tell you that God is pretty clear about this subject.
On this instance, I’m just going to use one passage from the bible but if you want to learn more about this topic I recommend you to read the book Unoffendable by Brant Hansen.
Anger is for fools
Be not quick in your spirit to become angry,
for anger lodges in the heart of fools.
– Ecclesiastes 7:9 ESV
In other words, every time you let angry to take control of you, you are being fooled.
Don’t take me wrong, I’m a fool. I have a complicated character and I get angry often but I think I have improved my emotional intelligence. In any case, that’s the idea, right? To improve.
For men, it’s harder because when we feel offended or disrespected we get easily angry, that’s why this topic is so important to avoid any type of unnecessary conflict.
So you should at least try to see how much different it is when you take control of your emotions. I think the difference is incredible.
Now, let me tell you some problems related to this feeling. The first one is that anger is linked to pride because it makes us believe that we have the right to feel that way and also that is everyone’s fault but me. Since you don’t take responsibility, this emotion can be really toxic to your life.
But it’s not just that. There’s also a great loss of energy and time through anger. And finally, this feeling like others will affect your rational thinking.
So there you have, there are a lot of great reasons to stop and control your anger.
I recommend you to change your default mindset. I mean, be calm and prepared to any offense. Even if it’s a legit offense. Just continue with your life.
Remember that this is for your own good which is the wise and smart thing to do.
I’m not an expert on this topic and I know that neither are you, but that’s not the point. The focus is to keep trying and to keep improving. I know I will and you should do the same.
I don’t know if you follow Jesus or not, which I invite you to do so [here] but in any case, I think this is one tool that can help you a lot.
