Here I want to explain that hate is very important to make life changes. So, let’s start with this first step: know what to hate.

Before we get into that topic, I want to say that I’m not diminishing the power of love. What I want to do is to put each other in their right place.

I know you want to make some changes, and even if you don’t, I know that eventually you will and this can be the best tool you will have.

Know what to hate

Love is the start point but hate will sustain your determination.

Here is an example that will help us understand how this works:

You love your kids and want to be a good example for them so you decide to start doing exercise. Then you run into a wall of obstacles like having to wake up earlier. So those obstacles would stop your desire. Then you quite.

Days later you see how your kids follow your bad example, or maybe they just don’t want to do anything healthy at all. So then is when you start to hate that feeling or that situation. You’re going to hate that so much that it will help you keep motivated to try again and be healthier.

I’m giving you this example because our situations usually are worst.

Most parents don’t care or don’t realize how their lifestyle affect their kids. Even if you don’t have kids, I know that all of us have some bad habits just because we don’t care enough or don’t love enough to hate whatever is stopping us from change.

So, yes this is still a problem of love and to know what to hate.

What I’m trying to say is that Love starts the fire but Hate keeps it burning.

Now, as the title says you have to know what to hate. Otherwise you might end hating a lot of things without a purpose. For example, you might hate healthy food and don’t hate to be sick –because you get used to it–.

I have to say, a lot of people are comfortable right where they are. So comfortable that they don’t care to live better. But the problem with that is as Rick Warren says, you don’t know how awful your life is, until you find something better.

That make me remind that movie from Disney, about a girl who was really poor. And even though she was poor, she worked happy every day and fight every single day. When she became a little famous as a chess player, she get to know hotels and fancy restaurants. Then when she came back to home, she realize how awful her life was and so she get depressed by that. She stopped fighting that day.

But that’s not the end of the story. She later realize that she was not alone, so she fought for her family to get all that better life that she get to know.

What I’m saying is that is not easy to get out of what you know, but when you give it a try you will realize is worth the risk.

Now that you are willing to take the risk, is when this strategy comes really useful.

Hate the bad consequences. This means that if you like to blame others for everything in your life, then hate self-pity.

If you smoke then hate the smell or hate the harm you are doing to your close ones.

This is what will help you overcome the temptation, to stop your bad habits and it will help you develop better ones.

If you want to make a change, get to know what to hate about that bad habit so you can remind yourself that every single day.

By the way, I don’t know if you have already, but if you want to make a clean change in your life you should know that’s so much harder to do it alone. And I know that God is the only one that can help you with that. Let Him be by your side: [Pray this].
