What do you prefer? To live at the level of your preparation or at the level of your potential. This is the power of potential.
To start this topic let’s remember our main reference:
“Open the east window,” he said, and he opened it. “Shoot!” Elisha said, and he shot. “The LORD’s arrow of victory, the arrow of victory over Aram!” Elisha declared. “You will completely destroy the Arameans at Aphek.” Then he said, “Take the arrows,” and the king took them. Elisha told him, “Strike the ground.” He struck it three times and stopped. The man of God was angry with him and said, “You should have struck the ground five or six times; then you would have defeated Aram and completely destroyed it. But now you will defeat it only three times.”
– 2 Kings 13:17-19 NIV
THE POWER OF POTENTIAL
What if God doesn’t do it but are trying to show you how to do it?
This is very common when we talk about our health. I have seen lots of people that wait for God’s miracle but it never came or at least not as they expected.
That’s exactly what the king experienced because Elisha said: “you will completely destroy the Arameans at Aphek.” But that purpose never fulfilled.
God shows us how to do it, Read the Scriptures. I’m talking about recovering our health and many other things we dream about.
Potential is unpredictable
You could have the promise of victory from God that can be applied in several aspects and battles, but God cannot fulfill that promise unless you do what He told you to do.
Potential is limited
Always your potential will be related to your purpose which is unique so if you try to follow someone’s else potential then you will fail for sure.
Potential has potential
You’ve to know that every potential has its counterpart. For example, king Saul had the potential to be a good king but he instead was an awful king.
In other words, you have the potential to be a great leader but also the potential to be the worst leader.
“All of us, then, who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you. Only let us live up to what we have already attained.”
– Philippians 3:15-16 NIV
When you read Paul saying “such a view of things,” think about your potential as ahead of you and don’t let it be behind.
He also teach us that when we use what we’ve got, then God will be what we’re not. And if you think you’ve achieved your whole potential, God will shake you and let you know that you’re not.
Maybe, as most people, you’re afraid to give it all and then realize that it’s not enough. And that could be the reason why you prefer to stay short and only show a representation of you.
But the bottom line is that I prefer to give it all instead of staying short and wonder what if.. because to fulfill our purpose we will need to give all of ourselves.
Now picture this. How a baby became the savior of the world? That is the power of potential.
Process reveals potential
Something you had been calling a problem is actually your potential. You should already know that every problem brings a new opportunity. In a more movie-type of a scene, every villain wakes up a hero.
That’s the idea.
Once while some Israelites were burying a man, suddenly they saw a band of raiders; so they threw the man’s body into Elisha’s tomb. When the body touched Elisha’s bones, the man came to life and stood up on his feet.
– 2 Kings 13:21 NIV | The power of potential
That’s an example of staying short in a way because in Elisha there was still a miracle to be done.
So, always give it all to fulfilled your calling.
