The love of God

Lenus Bible Study | The love of God

The love of God? Does God have love? Some say that God is love, is that true? And if He has love, are we worth that love?

There’s a phrase that says “The human being doesn’t ask to born, doesn’t know how to live and doesn’t want to die.”

With this I mean it’s really easy to live, it’s just about keep breathing, right? Well, we know that it isn’t that simple. We all have a lot of different problems. We make mistakes and we have to be responsible.

It is different with each of us but we all somehow or somewhen experience our necessity of God.

For some it will be thousand of dollars in debt or maybe the family relationships that are being destroyed. I can keep giving examples about finances, professions, dreams and a lot of things that might be dying in our lives. This list can go on but you know your own situation and problems.

Jesus wanted to teach us something with this story:

Then He said: “A certain man had two sons. And the younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me the portion of goods that falls to me.’ So he divided to them his livelihood. And not many days after, the younger son gathered all together, journeyed to a far country, and there wasted his possessions with prodigal living. But when he had spent all, there arose a severe famine in that land, and he began to be in want. Then he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country, and he sent him into his fields to feed swine. And he would gladly have filled his stomach with the pods that the swine ate, and no one gave him anything.
“But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you, and I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired servants.” ’“And he arose and came to his father. But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him. And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight, and am no longer worthy to be called your son.’
“But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet. And bring the fatted calf here and kill it, and let us eat and be merry; for this my son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ And they began to be merry. – Lucas 15.11-24 NKJV

In this story, the younger son makes a mistake. I think that something that we can relate easily.

But it is not just that. He also says that the same son was long apart from his Father. If you don’t identify yourself with that then let me ask you When was the last time you talked with your Father God through prayer?

It’s possible that you had a plan that didn’t work as you expected.

Maybe that time is now and now you are remembering that your Father is God who created, raised and protected you.

If you think that you don’t deserve to be considered his son anymore, well let me tell you that you’re right.

[We don’t deserve anything] because is not about us, it is about God and His word says:

Nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. – Romans 8.39 NKJV

Is in this that we find peace because He still love us as the Father that He is.

I think is time to come back with God and this is only possible with:

In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. – 1 John 4.9 NKJV

And that’s what the gospel is about.

I want to share with you the opportunity of perceiving the love of God trough the faith of Christ, so repeat with me:

I believe in you Father as my God, and that you send Jesus to died on the cross for me and also to raise from the dead to bring me back home. I now want to live with you in my heart. Thanks for your love. In Jesus name, amen.
