We are going to reverse our worry because it’s better when we live with peace and also because being worried doesn’t make us any good.
This is the second teaching of [gamechanger] series and I recommend you to check out all the teachings to get a better understanding of the whole picture.
We’re going to read a teaching from Jesus where He is practically saying that we shouldn’t worry.
I don’t know about you but whenever somebody tells me something like that, I get mad because it’s easy to say it but not so much to do it.
People usually love to give dumb advice like that, but there’s something completely different with Jesus.
Jesus knows what nobody else knows. He knows the end result of everything. He knows the future as He knows the past.
When Jesus says ”don’t worry” He is saying ”I’ve seen what will happen and I can tell you that you don’t have anything to worry about, everything is gonna be alright”.
I don’t like when other people say it but with Jesus, it produces peace in my everyday life.
Don’t worry about your life
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.Matthew 6:25-34 NIV
One thing you can notice about being worried is that worry works in circles.
It’s like you start spinning and continue spinning in the same spot with the same problem. For that, God says ”stop spinning and start with your source”.
When you know who’s your Father in heaven then the cycle of worry can be reversed.
Once you start the cycle with worry you end it with worry; when you start with fear, you end with fear; but when you start with God, you end with God.
In 2 Kings there’s a story of Elisha’s servant who woke up one day and found that the camp was surrounded with the Arameans who were the enemies. He woke Elisha and asked ”what should we do?”, which is a common question even today.
Elisha could have prayed God to destroy the enemies but instead, he prayed ”Lord open his eyes that he may see”.
Hence, the servant was able to see the army of angels that were surrounding the enemies.
Whatever is surrounding you, God is already surrounding it.
Reverse your worry
We all have needs but we cannot start our days with needs because when we do, then we end with needs. It’s better to start our days with God who knows our needs because in this way we can end with God meeting our needs.
God is the alpha and omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.
If God is doing this level of detail (like feeding the birds and dressing the flowers) don’t you think that He has already determined your expected end.
If God cares for the lesser He will take care of the greater, but you have to seek first his kingdom and his righteousness.
Probably you are thinking ”what does it mean?” and I’ve thought that myself, because how can I change if I don’t understand what I need to change.
The answer is not so complicated. It’s about having God’s priorities because the only way to live in God’s peace is to have God’s priorities.
Those problems that appear in our life can help us to structure our priorities in the right order.
What you thought was a priority most likely is not. Here’s a great tip for establishing priorities, the highest value is love. Start with the love of God and continue with the love of your family.
Those things you expend the majority of the time are the things that you consider more important. ¿Are your job greater than your family? ¿are your friends greater than your purpose?
The distinguishing mark of the people of God and the day we live in is a supernatural peace that will become so attractive to people that we won’t even have to preach to them, they will see our peace and they will want to meet the peace giver, the Prince of peace.
If you are a world-class worrier, you have the potential to become a world-class worshiper.
Worship is worry in reverse.
I want to make it more clear. Here are some examples of worship: when you pray, that is, when you talk with God. Another example is when you praise God through music. Also when you are kind, generous, humble and other fruits from the Spirit.
I hope that with those examples you can start worshiping so you could reverse the worrying cycle.
I bet you needed to hear this too. Being worry is the most common state for most of us and that is exhausting.
Now we know that we need to exchange our worries for worship because we’re no longer alone, God is surrounding us and our worries.
By the way, I published a new book in Spanish called [Salud Empresarial] about Business and Entrepreneurship. Highly recommended.
Finally, don’t forget to stay healthy and to subscribe.
See you in the next post.
